The platform locallibya.com was launched in 2016 with the ambition to connect local journalists from all across Libya. The project gave writers the opportunity to gain journalistic experience and a digital platform to tell often overlooked stories focusing on history, culture and society both from and about their communities.

The numerous connections between journalists, writers and cultural figures in Libya fostered throughout the Local Libya project combined to form a resilient network. This has facilitated further topical discussions, culture events and informal talks, resulting in a sustainable dialogue with international organisations and diplomatic circles.

zenith magazine’s English-language channel “Libya Chronicles” emerged as an ongoing by-product of the Local Libya project. The channel regularly reports on Libyan current affairs, politics, history, culture and society.
