Within the scope of Candid Foundation's dialogue and mediation work, we are honoured to provide support and advice to one of Syria's most dynamic society initiatives. The Council of the Syrian Charter is an independent network of community leaders and intellectuals that represent the diversity of the country. Its members who hail from various walks of life and political backgrounds have united behind the project of inclusive dialogue, national unity and renewal of the social contract. The initiative is based on and inspired by the Code of Conduct for Syrian Co-Existence, a supra-constitutional document with 11 principles. During many years of conflict, its members from Syria and the Syrian Diaspora have been liasing with each other and with representatives of the international community to support peaceful conflict resolution, to prepare for the 'day after' and to contribute to a new Syria which honours the legitimate aspirations of all its citizens.
