Pictures tell a story. Libya Uncharted was a unique photo award which invited photographers from across Libya to tell a different story about their country, its culture and its people. The project aimed to present a fuller picture of Libyan society in all its colours and diversity for both domestic and international audiences amid a country shaken by ongoing conflict.

A jury of renowned photographers, journalists and art experts selected three winners on topics including identity, work, culture, Ramadan, sport and life in Libya. A selection of the winners exhibited their works in Berlin, give insights into their creative process, and networked with international peers.

The project was supported by the Federal Foreign Office of Germany.
