Media Project | Januar 2020 – December 2022

The Candid Journalism Grant aims to build and nurture regional networks of journalists from the North Africa / Middle East region by facilitating in-depth research and offering tailor made capacity building programs. Over the course of three years the program has supported dozens of media workers from all walks of life and facilitated reporting on climate change, global health and other topics with a strong emphasis on science-based journalism.

At the core of the program is a mentor mentee relationship between local journalists, ensuring knowledge transfer and network effects beyond the duration of the program, forming a sustainable basis for both quality reporting on timely topics as well as advancing the careers of promising young talent from the region. Besides numerous published articles in outlets such as Al Jazeera, Die Welt, Middle East Eye and The Independent, participants of the program have won prestigious awards for their reporting, such as the Samir Kassir award.
